Dr. John Kallas

John Kallas is the Director of Wild Food Adventures based in Portland, Oregon. He has a Doctorate in nutrition, a Master's in education, and degrees in zoology and biology.

As an authority on edible wild plants, Dr. Kallas offers workshops, training, technical advising, research, and curriculum development services to outdoor organizations, schools, and businesses throughout North America.

His workshops are interesting!!! In his acorn meal, cattail flour, and oils workshop, for example, participants learn to process cattails and acorns to produce flour and distill essential oils from herbs growing in the garden.

Other workshop topics include sea vegetables of the Pacific Coast; wild gourmet garden vegetables; fall harvest of fruits, nuts, and vegetables; wilderness survival and wild foods; and more.
